Follow-up

The bigger issue to Ethan still breast-feeding is his ability to go to sleep. He nurses to sleep at night and for naps. A few times, he has fallen asleep in my arms as I sway, rocking him. Earlier today he fell asleep on the couch, cuddled up with me. But when I tried to carry him to his crib, he woke up.

DH's mother is coming to stay with Ethan, so we can go to The Cure concert. I hope he'll wear himself out, dragging himself around the house. I have plenty of breastmilk on hand, plus he eats lots of baby food, I'm not worried about him starving, just that he'll stay awake all night.

I was talking with my friend B. She was telling me about things that she does with her daughter, "spoiling" her. We both agreed it's because we lost our first daughters, our parenting style will be effected.

I feel the same way about Corban....spoiling him that is. I know it's because of Logan. And trust me, Corban is spoiled! I've even been letting him sleep with us - something I said I would NEVER do.
I also nurse Corban to sleep and at naps. He has fallen asleep by himself 1 time in his swing. And, like you, as soon as I get up to put him down he is wide awake again. Makes for a cranky baby and baby momma!

I don't believe there is such a thing as spoiling a baby. Of course, mine is just 3 weeks old and I find it hard to put him down. I think we are entitled to hold them and cuddle them as much as we want because we have a child in Heaven we never got to do that with. Enjoy the precious moments with them that pass by too fast.

As for the weaning, Justin weaned himself at 13 months when he bit me and smiled...he never took "Mommy's bottle" again. Now, I did introduce formula around 5 months as a supplement. I did find that he didn't like the liquid formula. I had to use the powdered one that mixes with water.
